The Xerox Litigation Services platform, accessible through any web-browser, is designed to address the most challenging electronic discovery projects. Our technology allows for flexibility in the organization of documents and workflows and is customized for each client’s unique requirements. The system simultaneously supports the most complex security models. Our technology is proprietary, designed and developed by Xerox Litigation Services. We also maintain the platform, frequently implementing new features and functionality, which means that we are able to quickly and effectively respond to and execute client requests. Our commitment to technological innovation is proven by our industry-leading infrastructure – 99.5%+ uptime – and with the design and capacity of our servers, we can support virtually any matter regardless of size and/or complexity.

Advanced Analytical Features

Xerox Litigation Services’ advanced analytical tools are key elements of the platform and significantly aid in streamlining the electronic discovery process for investigations and litigation matters.

E-mail Analytics is a new tool on the Xerox Litigation Services platform that helps clients quickly identify key individuals and communications in a litigation or investigative matter. Users can choose an individual and time frame, and get an immediate graphical representation of all e-mails sent to and received from that individual. Multiple views are available to help users visualize communications and relationships between individuals.

Additional, advanced analytical features include:

  • Near duplicate identification: Our near duplicate process and feature set allow users to easily find and group documents that are similar to another document for bulk-tagging or review. This process ultimately increases the consistency of coding among similar documents.
  • E-mail threading: Our e-mail threading technology allows users to view e-mail documents in the context of an e-mail chain, or thread, showing the user where a single e-mail document fits within a series of e-mails between custodians.

In addition to our analytical tools, the core platform components outlined below also contribute to Xerox Litigation Services’ robust electronic discovery offering.

Document Formats

The Xerox Litigation Services platform supports documents in nearly any format and allows for common document types (e-mail documents including Microsoft® Outlook and Lotus Notes, web documents, Microsoft® Office documents) to be reviewed in their original format. Common media file types are supported as well.

Foreign Language Support and Detection

The Xerox Litigation Services platform supports extraction of text for documents in more than 115 languages, including those with non-Latin alphabets (such as Japanese or Arabic). This allows for foreign language content to be closely rendered for review with fully searchable text and metadata in its original language.

Xerox Litigation Services’ Foreign Language Identifier – developed at Xerox Research Center Europe – instantly determines which languages a document contains, identifies the majority language and provides a percentage breakdown of each. This proprietary foreign language technology is unique in the e-discovery space because it can parse languages at the sentence level as opposed to only the document level.

Search Technologies

Our powerful search technologies allow clients to conduct searches on their data in several ways. These technologies are powered by the Oracle database and the Oracle full-text search engine. Clients can build and run complex searches containing multiple full-text and/or metadata search criteria and include any combination of Boolean Logic, proximity, exact phrase and wildcard operators, in addition to the full range of Oracle relational searches for metadata fields.

Clients can also use concept searching to identify key terms and phrases in a document collection, based on their correlation to a starting set of terms or even a single term. In generating lists of key terms via concept search, users can identify terms that are critical to their document review and litigation matter.

Review and Workflow Management

Xerox Litigation Services provides an extensive set of administrative features to coordinate workflow and automate document reviews. Our Review Manager feature automates the batching and distribution of documents to specified reviewers. Users can set batches to be automatically forwarded to the next level of review after they are completed, and monitor the status and progress of document reviews.

Reporting

Xerox Litigation Services provides comprehensive reporting services that are customized for each client’s requirements. Specific reporting tools include:

  • Processing and Review Dashboard: Clients can manage deadlines more effectively with access to a real-time view of where their data is in the processing and review pipeline. Data can be viewed by custodian and media shipment, and also includes a custom filter.
  • Privilege Log: Clients can collect all subjective metadata on our platform to create a detailed privilege log. Users can request that metadata be normalized in advance, and then select data from drop-down menus and check boxes customized for their specific matter, eliminating the need to manipulate the data once it is exported into a CSV or Excel file.
